Clips de letras # 2

Jamie Baum

We get there, and she’s sitting at the bar with Dizzy Gillespie! She’s telling him how she has this daughter who wants to play jazz piano ('cause at that point I hadn’t really taken up the flute or anything). He was really nice and he talked to us, and he went into the kitchen and brought us some cookies or something. And then after we talked for a while he handed me a card, and he said, "When you’re ready, call this guy to take piano lessons and tell him that I sent you." So I was like, "OK, sure," and I think I put it in my desk, and I never really went back to the piano.

Years later, my parents were moving – this was, maybe, like ten years ago – and I had to go home and go through all my stuff, and I found the card. And it was a card from Lennie Tristano. That would have been something, huh?
