Hoje, com as actividades lectivas interrompidas, foi dia para apreciar os campos pintados de branco.
Rumámos a Sul e depressa descobrimos que o concelho de Vila Velha de Ródão tinha sido má opção. Apenas umas encostas, entre Chão das Servas e Foz do Cobrão, apresentavam alguma neve.

Em direcção ao Norte apercebemo-nos da imensidão do manto branco que cobria os campos. Não subimos à Serra da Gardunha devido ao nevoeiro e à temperatura que ameaçava criar gelo nos caminhos.
Assim, ficámos por Casal da Serra e, via São Vicente da Beira, fomos em direcção à Barragem da Marateca.

Archie Shepp

A referência ao saxofonista Archie Shepp transporta-nos de imediato para os anos 60 e para a new thing.

A música de Shepp acompanhava os movimentos reformistas que lutavam pelos direitos civis da população afro-americana. Interventiva, radical, ultrapassando barreiras. Os seus pares de então confirmam-no: Bill Dixon, Don Cherry, John Tchicai, Cecil Taylor, e Coltrane na sua fase avant-garde.

A sua "fúria" musical desvanece-se com o passar dos anos. Revelando no saxofone tenor uma faceta algo websteriana, Shepp começa a explorar territórios bop e mainstream.
E é ele quem explica: "I moved further and further away from that kind of free music. I was beggining not to enjoy it. It was too cerebral for me, too intelectual, and the blues referents seemed to be neutralized, for the sake of playing notes that were different or doing things that surprised the audience."

Hoje o Pescador recorda 3 álbuns gravados sob a tutela de Nils Winther para o catálogo dinamarquês SteepleChase. Estamos em finais dos anos 70 e princípios dos 80. Com o pianista Horace Parlan são feitas incursões nos repertórios do gospel e do blues tradicional, respectivamente, em Goin’ Home e Trouble in Mind. Com o contrabaixista Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Shepp aventura-se pelo universo da música de Parker em Looking at Bird.
